We've had a fantastic year here at Players Netball Club so it would only be right to end the year on a high! This year, we raised over £4000 for Macmillan at our annual netball tournament and celebrated Players Netball Club's 10th Anniversary in style! We continued the hen do tradition of taking netball tour abroad, celebrated not one but two Players weddings, and welcomed new babies to the Players family. That 2030 squad sure is growing strong! We've loved, laughed and made great memories as always...oh and we've played some netball too! We've made good progress on the netball court as we've reacquainted ourselves with the Friesland league and appointed a new coach. As 2017 draws to a close and the 2017/18 season is well underway, we find ourselves sitting comfortably in both leagues (5th/9 in the Saturday league and 6th/14 in the Wednesday league).
What better way to celebrate than with a cocktail masterclass, a spot of ping pong and a Christmas hat competition! Thank you very much to our super Christmas elves Lucy and Beth for organising such a great night of fun once again, and well done to Hannah for winning the hat competition! We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year from all of us here at Players Netball Club xx

On Friday 22nd September 2017, Players Netball Club transformed Oxton Village Hall for their 10th anniversary dinner. The girls and their partners, dolled up in posh frocks and bow ties, were welcomed to the hall with a glass of prosecco and fancy canapés. Everyone enjoyed a delicious 5 course meal followed by an awards presentation, which saw our youngest member Tamara pick up the first award for well...just being Tamara! The second award went to Estelle for her fabulous netball attire (tights?!) and ever changing trainer collection! Thirdly, congratulations to Pam - Cheers to Tour! And a special final award for Debbie, who does so much for the club behind the scenes, keeps the finances ticking over so well, and always offers her house for get togethers, meetings and storage of all things Players! We then drew the raffle in the style of "Who's got the peg?!", in which Lucky Lucy won a holiday hamper, including some sexy sunglasses and a week in Fuerteventura! Congratulations to all the winners!
The DJ kicked off the partying with a little bit of hokey cokey and everyone danced the night away! Time really does fly when you're having fun and before we knew it, it was time to pile into the taxis and head home! A massive thank you to Caroline at Oxton Village Hall for her help in the run up to the event - it really was a perfect venue and would recommend to anyone looking to hold similar events in the future! Huge thanks also to Jack Foster and his team for the most incredible dinner, it was absolutely delicious and the service was faultless! And a final thank you goes to the Pizer family for running a great bar and Charlotte for capturing some great photos of the night. Please feel free to visit our Facebook page to see all the photos! Cheers to the next 10 years! On Sunday 23rd April 2017, Players Netball Club hosted their fourth annual charity tournament at Carlton Le Willows School in Nottingham to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. A record 27 teams entered from all over the country with netballers of all abilities taking part, from Back to Netball to Regional players. The sun was shining and Rhythm Nation Studios got the party started with a great warm up. There was lots of exciting netball on display and plenty of fun was had by all. The winners of the three sections were Leapoole, Grasshoppers and Sleaford – a big well done to all!
Player of the Tournament was awarded to Leonie Smikle from Leapoole Netball Club, who also managed to bag the top prize on the raffle – Team Entry and Camping for 10 people at this year’s Bournemouth 7s Sport & Music Festival – a prize worth a whopping £1300! Well done Leonie! We raised a massive £4096 for Macmillan, smashing all previous years and setting the bar high for next year! We would like to thank all the players, umpires, volunteers, supporters, sponsors and amazing businesses who donated generously to make the raffle fantastic! We could not have done it without you all! |
